Mr Lui said the new line will serve areas like Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Jurong West, the new Tengah town, Boon Lay as well as NTU. The announcement of the new Jurong Region Line (JRL), which will serve residents in Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay, Jurong and the future Tengah development, is a long-awaited one for many. Comprising 24 stations, the line was announced last year to improve connectivity in the Jurong area, with the aim to boost the area's transformation into a second Central Business District. The Jurong Region Line project J102 comprises works to design and construct Choa Chu Kang, Choa Chu Kang West and Tengah Station with a 4.3-km viaduct between Choa Chu Kang and Tengah along Choa Chu Kang Ave 3. The line is estimated to be ready by 2025, while the extension – if found to be feasible – will be completed by 2030.
